Product Manager - Protective Relays

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for an experienced Product Manager for power protection relays. Successful candidate will have a unique blend of business and technical skills. This role will be responsible to define product road map, launch new product, manage product life cycle, put together competitive strategy and pricing strategy, participate in training, attend conferences and trade shows.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Understand requirements for assigned product lines and/or markets, identify opportunities, and translate opportunities into product requirements.
2. Create go-to-market strategies and carry out product launches. This includes pricing, positioning, forecasting, competitive market research/analysis, and development of sales collateral and promotional content.
3. Generate and deliver outbound marketing collateral including product flyers, press releases, presentations, application notes, web content, and sales kits.
4. Participate in the development of conference and trade show strategies; develop product demonstrations; travel and attend events to promote SEL solutions.
5. Work with Sales and Customer Service to support and drive sales objectives.
6. Participate in industry technical meetings, standards committees and conferences to represent SEL interests and identify key technical requirements for product planning.
7. Propose and create technical papers and presentations to promote SEL technologies.
8. Train the sales force on the benefits of SEL solutions and visit customers with them.
9. Understand. Create. Simplify.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
B.S. degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
Working knowledge of electric power systems practices and philosophies
Experience working in technical sales/marketing/product management
Excellent technical and marketing presentation and writing skills
Knowledge of product life cycle planning and market positioning
Willing to travel 25%
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment Background check results satisfactory to SEL Negative drug test result(s)
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with power utility practices

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
