The Opportunity Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Engineer IV, V, VI - Modeling & Automation position. This position is located in the Special Protection Systems Branch of Engineering Services. Engineer IV, V, VI - Modeling
Develop and maintain an expert level of technical expertise in electric power system protection and power system operation.
Develop and maintain an expert level of knowledge of SEL equipment and solution to electric power system control.
Develop and test models of generators, governors, exciters, and loads on digital simulation system.
Create in-depth and detailed documents such as dynamic stability reports, generator performance testing, validation reports, voltage stability reports, closed loop control system performance reports, etc.
Work within the project team to resolve customer concerns and foster customer satisfaction.
Complete assigned work within agreed upon schedule and budget to a high level of quality.
Train and assist customers with the installation, commissioning and operation of automation and/or protection systems, both on-site and from SEL offices.
Assume Project Management role on assigned projects.
Assist and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
Continuously identify, measure, and improve processes.
Provide support for other SEL marketing, sales, application engineering and development activities.
Responsible for environmental, health and safety leadership, maintaining a safe workplace, safety awareness and training, accident investigations and reporting, and implementing safe and environmentally sound work practices.
Continuously identify, measure, follow, and improve applicable processes.
Assist in the preparation and presentation of successful proposals for SEL equipment, services and systems. Be a secondary customer contact on primarily technical matters.
Other duties as assigned.
B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls Engineering or equivalent experience
Relevant experience with electrical power systems operation and system practices:
Engineer IV - minimum 8 years
Engineer V - minimum 10 years
Engineer VI - minimum 12 years
Excellent knowledge of dynamic modeling (and fundamental physics) of governors, exciters, motors, and other related power system equipment
Experience with modeling software tools (RTDS, PSSE, PSLF, ETAP,etc)
Working knowledge of electric power systems
Excellent technical training, speaking and writing skills
Willing to travel internationally
Excellent technical training skills
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate level degree
Professional Engineers License
Working knowledge of SEL products
Expert knowledge of system protection, integration and automation applications
Extensive experience in power system modeling using RTDS
Detailed knowledge of power system protection, Power system Analysis, power system operation, and power generation systems

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
