Summary of Duties:
The Scientific Assistant Senior performs laboratory research in support of the School of Molecular Biosciences.
The position requires spending the majority of the time in identifying and defining research problems, designing approaches or hypothesis and methodology, designing specific phases of research projects, analyzing results, developing conclusions and hypothesis, and/or presenting research in publishable form.
Duties include, but are not limited to, conducting highly complex, advanced technical laboratory analysis, designs, selects, modifies and/or adapts procedures to specific project requirements; evaluates research data; ensuring quality control makes substantive suggestions for improvement in techniques and interpretation.
This position is responsible for the supervision and training of laboratory staff to include undergraduate and graduate students, temporary hourly employees, Postdoctoral Research Associates, and other technical staff.
Required
Qualifications:
A Master's degree in an appropriate related scientific or engineering discipline and four (4) years of progressively responsible related professional research experience.
A PhD in a scientific or engineering field may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required work experience.
