Summary:
This support position will aid the Testing Services Lab Technicians and Technologists in daily laboratory operations.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Follows all policies, protocols, and SOPsCleaning of labs and biosafety cabinetsEquipment verification and maintenanceRestocking of lab supplies daily/weeklyAbility to work in a hood, measure liquids and weigh ingredients, use a pipette, work with chemicals and maintain a sterile environmentGeneric reagent generation, as neededMaintain paperwork as per all related SOPs and Quality ManualArchive and management of electronic recordsWhen experienced and competent, position may:
Record incoming samples as neededLabeling of flasks, plates and slides as needed for weekly assaysAssist in performance of some routine testing as assignedHandling inoculated cultures, (virus, bacteria, fungal)Assist in training of new personnel if neededPerform all other related duties as assignedRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

High School Diploma or GED requiredCollege level course work in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics preferredPhysical Requirements for the Job:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 40% of the time.
(Standing and/or sitting)Frequently moves lab materials weighing up to 40lbsPay Range Data:
We anticipate filling this position of Lab Assistant at an hourly rate between $18.
00 and $22.
00 per hour.
We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the pay range may differ if filled at a different level.
Our pay ranges are determined by job responsibility and regional benchmarks.
We base our starting pay offer and title on job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
The range listed is just one component of VMRD's total compensation package for employees.
Other rewards may include bonuses.
